Oban distillery was built in 1794 on Scotland's west coast, in the port town that later grew up around it. With only two pot stills, it remains one of the smallest working distilleries in Scotland, producing a style often described as sitting between the drier, smokier malts of the Scottish islands and the lighter, sweeter malts of the Highlands. The Distillers Edition takes the standard Oban spirit through a second maturation, or double matured finish, in Montilla Fino sherry casks before bottling. Oban is owned by Diageo and forms part of its Classic Malts Selection.
