Nikka issued a number of design bottles for the Japanese gift market alongside its regular range, and this is one of the more unusual. It is a Super Nikka bottling, a blend of malt and Coffey grain whisky. No age statement or bottling date appears, so it is best judged as a display piece first and a whisky second. Expect the gentle, lightly smoky style of an older Super Nikka.

About the Distillery
Nikka built its range steadily through the post-war decades. Black Nikka arrived in 1956, Super Nikka in 1962, Hi-Nikka in 1964 and Gold & Gold in 1968.
In those years whisky was a popular gift in Japan, and Nikka dressed many of its blends in special bottles and decanters for the season, a practice that left a long trail of design bottles for later collectors.
