Mars Komagatake 27 Year is a mature Japanese single malt from the Mars Shinshu lineage, aged well beyond the distillery's 1992-2011 mothball period, designed for buyers who want age, rarity and a less mainstream Japanese whisky story.
From the Producer
Mars Shinshu is owned by Hombo Shuzo, a shōchū producer based in Kagoshima. Founded in 1985 in Miyada, Nagano Prefecture at roughly 800 metres above sea level, it is Japan's highest-altitude whisky distillery, and its Komagatake single malts carry the distillery's mountain-cellar maturation character.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Dried citrus, honey, light peat, cereal malt and mature oak.
- Palate: Layered and balanced, with fruit, spice, oak and a composed old-whisky texture.
- Finish: Long and warming, with dry spice, smoke-tinged notes and lingering malt sweetness.
Best For
Best for mature Japanese whisky collectors, private cellars and buyers exploring prestige bottles beyond the biggest names.
