The Château Margaux DNA2 case holds eleven bottles of the estate's grand vin, one from each vintage from 2005 to 2015. Only 200 numbered cases were made, putting a full decade of Margaux into a single wooden case.
About This Wine
Because the vintages are consecutive, the case covers warm, generous years and cooler, more classical ones. 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015 are widely regarded as the strongest of the set, while lighter years such as 2007, 2011 and 2013 are likely to be ready sooner. That spread makes it a practical way to see how the estate handles very different seasons. The 2015 comes in a special black bottle marking the château's bicentenary, and each case is numbered out of 200.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Cassis, violet and cedar across the set, with older bottles moving towards tobacco, truffle and forest floor.
- Palate: Silky and poised throughout; riper and denser in the warm years, fresher and more linear in the cooler ones.
- Finish: Long and perfumed, fine tannin and a graphite thread running through the whole decade.
Serving & Food
Stand the bottles upright a day before a tasting. Decant the younger, bigger vintages for two hours and the older, lighter ones just before pouring, and serve around 17°C. Taste in order, or in pairs of contrasting years. Grilled wagyu, roast lamb and aged Gouda will carry a long vertical dinner.
How to Enjoy
A serious vertical tasting, or a Margaux cellar that wants a complete decade of the grand vin in its original case.

About the Château
Château Margaux has been a First Growth since the 1855 Classification and sits in the Margaux appellation on the Médoc's left bank. The Mentzelopoulos family has owned it since 1977, with Corinne Mentzelopoulos in charge from 1980 until her son Alexis took over as CEO at the end of 2023. The eleven vintages here fall within the long tenure of Paul Pontallier, who directed the estate from the early 1980s until his death in 2016; 2015 was the last vintage he oversaw from start to finish. The red vineyard is planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon on deep gravel, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot making up the rest.
