Maison Leroy was founded in 1868 by François Leroy as a Burgundy negociant business in Auxey-Duresses. The house passed through three generations before Lalou Bize-Leroy became managing director in 1971 and expanded the family's own vineyard holdings; the Leroy family also holds a long-standing stake in Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Puligny-Montrachet is regarded as one of the Côte de Beaune's most prestigious white-wine communes, and its premier cru vineyards are prized for a saline, mineral-driven style distinct from neighbouring Meursault.
