Fine & Rare is Macallan's archive series, launched in 2002 to release single vintages drawn from casks reaching back to 1926. Every bottling states its vintage and cask number, is taken from one cask, and is bottled at natural strength, which makes the series a year-by-year record of the distillery rather than a fixed recipe. A 1988 from cask 12202 is a single, finite outturn that cannot be repeated once sold through.
