Hospices de Beaune Clos de la Roche Cuvée Cyrot Chaudron 2009 750mL is a Pinot Noir from the Clos de la Roche grand cru in Morey-Saint-Denis, bottled under the Hospices de Beaune charity-wine label from the 2009 vintage. Clos de la Roche is one of the named Morey-Saint-Denis grand crus and is sold each year at the Hospices de Beaune's annual charity auction.
From the Producer
The Hospices de Beaune (Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune) was founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins as a charitable hospital for the poor. Over the centuries the institution received donations of vineyards and farms from grateful families and benefactors, and that donated vineyard land forms the basis of today's Hospices de Beaune wine estate. Each year's wines are bottled under named cuvées honouring the original donors and sold at the Hospices de Beaune wine auction, the longest-running charity wine auction in France. The Cuvée Cyrot Chaudron is a named Hospices de Beaune bottling drawn from the Clos de la Roche grand cru in Morey-Saint-Denis, and the 2009 vintage in Burgundy was a warm, sunny year that produced ripe, generous Pinot Noir across the Côte de Nuits.
