Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a winery in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux and one of eighteen Cinquièmes Crus in the 1855 classification (Wikipedia, "Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste"). The estate sits on the same low gravelly hill called "Grand Puy" that gives its name to Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse; the hill was historically a single property and was divided in 1750 when part was sold to Pierre Ducasse. The estate's roughly 36 hectares are planted with about 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, on a deep gravel topsoil over a limestone base, with ageing in 50% new oak barrels for around 18 months. The property's second wine is Lacoste-Borie.
