GlenDronach was established in 1826 at Forgue in Aberdeenshire, making it one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. It is known above all for a richly sherried house style, built on long fermentation and maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks brought in from Jerez. The distillery passed to Brown-Forman in 2016 as part of the BenRiach, GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh group. Alongside the core range GlenDronach issues numbered single-cask bottlings, each drawn from one cask, bottled at natural strength without chill-filtration or added colour, and labelled with its own cask number, distillation year and outturn. This release comes from cask 8558, a Pedro Ximenez puncheon filled in 2008 and bottled at twelve years old at 59.4% ABV, with an outturn commonly listed at 710 bottles.
