Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Sour Mash is one of Buffalo Trace's landmark single-barrel bourbons, created in honour of the man who helped pioneer the category. Its balanced 90-proof style and strong name recognition make it a dependable premium bourbon for gifting and collecting.
From the Producer
Buffalo Trace Distillery sits on the Kentucky River at Frankfort and is owned by the Sazerac Company, which describes the site as the oldest continuously operating distillery in Kentucky. The Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel is named for the master distiller who spent his whole career there and who is credited with introducing the modern single-barrel bourbon category when he created Blanton's in 1984. The bourbon is drawn from Buffalo Trace's Mash Bill #2, the higher-rye of the distillery's two bourbon recipes, and each bottling comes from an individual barrel selected by the distillery rather than from a large vatting. It is bottled at 90 US proof as a Kentucky straight bourbon, and remains the expression that established the single-barrel format other American whiskey houses have since adopted.

- Nose: Caramel, vanilla, orange peel and polished oak with a gentle floral lift.
- Palate: Silky and composed, with sweet corn richness, baking spice, toffee and measured barrel depth.
- Finish: Medium-long, with vanilla, citrus and tidy oak spice.
Best For
Best for premium bourbon gifting, Buffalo Trace fans and drinkers who want a collectible label with broad appeal rather than extreme proof.
