Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel 90 Proof 2013 is a single-barrel Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV) in 2013, produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery and named for the master distiller who helped define modern single-barrel bourbon.
From the Producer
Elmer T. Lee (1919–2013) joined what is now Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, after returning from service in the Second World War, and spent much of his career there, eventually serving as master distiller. He is widely credited with helping revive the category of single-barrel bourbon in the United States and was instrumental in the creation of Blanton's Single Barrel, the first modern single-barrel bourbon. The bourbon named for him, introduced after his formal retirement, uses Buffalo Trace's Mash Bill #2 (higher-rye) and is aged on the upper floors of the distillery's warehouses before being bottled at 90 proof. Lee remained a brand ambassador for the distillery until shortly before his death in 2013.
