About This Bourbon
Small Batch first came out in 1986 carrying a 12-year age statement. In 2016 Heaven Hill dropped the statement and moved to a mix of 8 to 12 year old bourbon, allowing up to 200 barrels per batch. The whiskey matures in new oak with a level 3 char, which gives the brand its warm spice and a faint smoke. Heaven Hill's master distillers pick the barrels for each batch by hand.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Vanilla bean, sweet fruit and fresh mint.
- Palate: Smooth and warm, gently woody, with spice, smoke and nutmeg.
- Finish: Sweet and slightly toasty, fading slowly.
Serving & Food
Heaven Hill's own suggestion is an Old Fashioned: stir with bitters and a little sugar, and serve over one large cube with an orange twist. Neat or with ice, it goes well with honey-glazed char siu.

About the Distillery
The whiskey is named for the Reverend Elijah Craig, a Baptist preacher and early Kentucky distiller whom the brand credits with first ageing whiskey in charred oak barrels, earning him the title of Father of Bourbon.
Heaven Hill launched the brand in 1986 and uses his name across a family of bourbons, from Small Batch to the barrel proof and toasted finishes.
