Bulleit 10 Year Bourbon 700mL is the only age-dated whiskey in the Bulleit range, carrying the brand's high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon recipe through a decade in oak.
From the Producer
Bulleit traces its recipe to Augustus Bulleit, who made whiskey from around 1830 until his death in 1860. His great-great-grandson Tom Bulleit revived the brand in 1987, with the first contract distillation run at Frankfort's Leestown Company Distillery in 1989 and retail release in summer 1995. The bourbon is distinguished by an unusually high rye share for the category — 68% corn, 28% rye and 4% malted barley — and is aged at least six years in the standard bottling. The 10 Year uses that same mash bill and is the range's only age-dated whiskey; it took a Double Gold Medal at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The brand is owned by Diageo, which opened a dedicated Bulleit distillery near Shelbyville, Kentucky in 2017.
Tasting Profile
American bourbon (10 Year) typically shows sweet-corn and vanilla notes from new charred-oak aging, with caramel, brown-sugar and light spice on the palate. The finish is warming with the rye-spice grain character typical of the style.
Best For
Enthusiasts of 10 Year aged spirits, gifting on milestone occasions, and after-dinner service. Neat or with a drop of water is the recommended tasting approach.
