Dom Pérignon Rosé 2009 is the first rosé to show Vincent Chaperon's lighter hand with the red wine. It is ripe and generous, from a warm, late-summer vintage.
About This Champagne
After years when still red Pinot reached 27 to 28% of the blend, the 2009 uses only about 13 to 15%, sourced from Hautvillers, Aÿ and Bouzy. The blend is 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay, disgorged in March 2022 with 5 g/l dosage. Antonio Galloni scored it 98, finding orange oil, raspberry, pomegranate and Timut pepper, with a muscular, textural palate.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Orange oil, raspberry and pomegranate, with dried flowers, liquorice and a light smoky note.
- Palate: Medium to full-bodied and expansive, with a sweet core of fruit and a firm, vinous structure.
- Finish: Long, sapid and chalky.
Serving & Food

About the Maison
Chaperon's aim with the reduced red share was finesse: a rosé where the Pinot adds colour, texture and spice without dominating.
The change was gradual, and the 2009 was the first vintage where it showed clearly to critics tasting the rosés side by side.
