About This Wine
Cuvée de Noble Souche is Domaine Denis Mortet's Bourgogne Rouge, grown on high ground at Daix, just outside Dijon. The 2023 shows the house style, fresh and clear, at the regional level.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Bright strawberry and red cherry with a hint of dark berry and fresh spice.
- Palate: Light to medium in weight, juicy and straight, with silky tannin and brisk acidity.
- Finish: Clean and refreshing, with red fruit and a faint chalky note.
Serving & Food
Open now or over the next five years or so. Charcuterie or a simple roast chicken both work.
Good to Know
Where is it from? About a hectare in Daix, at around 400 metres on very chalky soil.
How is it made? Mostly destemmed, native yeasts and 18 months in barrel.

About the Maison
Denis Mortet took over his father Charles's Gevrey-Chambertin vines in 1993 and launched the Domaine Denis Mortet label. His son Arnaud has run it since 2006, now with his sister Clémence, who joined in 2013.
