Denis Mortet Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée de Noble Souche 2023 is a polished Bourgogne Rouge from a domaine with serious Côte de Nuits credentials. It suits buyers who want a more polished and pedigree-driven Pinot Noir entry point without moving into premier or grand cru pricing.
From the Producer
Domaine Denis Mortet is based in Gevrey-Chambertin. Denis Mortet took his own share of the family vines in 1993 and within a decade was among the most closely watched names in the Cote de Nuits; since his death in 2006 his son Arnaud has run the domaine, moving to a gentler, less extracted style with more whole-bunch fruit and a lighter hand with new oak. Cuvee de Noble Souche is the domaine's Bourgogne Rouge, named for the old vine stock it is drawn from and vinified in the same cellar as the domaine's higher appellations.
