The Dalmore King Alexander III is a Highland single malt finished across a six-cask programme — American white oak, Matusalem oloroso sherry, Madeira, Marsala, Port and Cabernet Sauvignon — created in tribute to the clan Mackenzie’s 1263 act of saving King Alexander III from a stag. It is Dalmore’s flagship multi-cask expression.
From the Producer
Dalmore has stood on the northern shore of the Cromarty Firth in Alness since 1839, and the Mackenzie family crest — a stag’s head — has been on every bottle since 1263. King Alexander III is built on the unusual approach of finishing the same distillate sequentially in six different cask types, with each one selected to add a different flavour layer (thedalmore.com).
