Compass Box 3 Year Old Deluxe is a limited blended malt created to highlight the impact of Compass Box's own three-year-old first-fill American oak component inside a whisky made mostly from much older malts. It is a clever, conversation-starting bottle for drinkers who enjoy modern blending with transparency
From the Producer
Compass Box was founded by John Glaser in 2000 and has spent two decades publicly arguing that Scotch labelling law is backwards: a blend must state the age of its youngest component, no matter how small that component is. The 3 Year Old Deluxe is that argument turned into a bottle - a whisky made largely from much older malt, forced by law to call itself three years old.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Vanilla, orchard fruit, malt sweetness, gentle spice and polished oak
- Palate: Lively and layered, with sweet grain, creamy oak, citrus and older-malt depth beneath the youthful lift
- Finish: Medium to long, with spice, vanilla and a dry, elegant close
Best For
Great for Compass Box followers, tasting groups and gift buyers who want something distinctive rather than conventional
