Chichibu Port Pipe Cask #1825 for Mitsukoshi Isetan is a Japanese single-cask release distilled in 2012 and matured in a port pipe. The combination of retailer exclusivity, cask number and early Chichibu stock gives it strong collector interest.

From the Producer

Chichibu was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, on the site of a former sake brewery. The distillery runs small pot stills, on-site floor maltings and short fermentations, and matured its first new-make spirit in 2009. Its single malt program is built cask-by-cask under the Ichiro's Malt label, drawing on Akuto's earlier work with the Hanyu distillery stock. A port-pipe-cask maturation bottled at cask strength as a Mitsukoshi Isetan retail selection.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Red fruit, malt sweetness, oak spice and a gentle wine-cask lift.
  • Palate: Rich and rounded, with berry-toned sweetness, layered malt and cask-driven depth.
  • Finish: Long and warming, with spice, fruit and lingering oak.

Best For

Chichibu collectors, Japanese single-cask drinkers and buyers who want a named retailer-exclusive bottling rather than a general-release expression.
