Chichibu 2012 Single Cask Peated #2077 is a rare peated Japanese single malt from Chichibu Distillery, drawn from a peated new-make distillate run in 2012 and bottled in 2018 from cask #2077 at natural cask strength. It is one of the named single-cask peated releases that anchors Chichibu's reputation for craft-style, small-batch Japanese peated whisky.

From the Producer

Chichibu Distillery was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of Toa Shuzo founder Isouji Akuto and the man who previously acquired and bottled the legendary Hanyu "Card Series" casks. Located in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, just outside Tokyo, Chichibu was the first new licensed malt distillery to open in Japan in decades and was deliberately built small — short fermentation, compact stills, slow distillation and a heavy reliance on cask variety — to produce whisky in a more European craft style. Chichibu's core output is unpeated malt, but Ichiro Akuto has run small batches of peated malt at Chichibu from early in the distillery's life — including the peated single-cask releases that have become a discrete collecting category alongside the unpeated Chichibu single casks. Cask #2077 is one of those peated single-cask releases, distilled in 2012, bottled in 2018 and presented at natural cask strength, without colouring or chill-filtration, in line with the Ichiro's Malt house style.
