About This Rum
This single cask of 1998 Caroni rum from Trinidad spent 23 years in wood before going out under the Golden Devil label in 2021.
Golden Devil is Hunter Laing's US name for its Kill Devil single cask rums.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Diesel and warm engine oil at first, then raspberry, guava, black tea and dark chocolate.
- Palate: Thick and oily, with burnt rubber, tropical fruit, strong black tea and cocoa, carried by high strength.
- Finish: Medium to long, with guava, allspice and a dry, smoky grip.
Serving & Food
It stands up to strong flavours: try it with dark chocolate above 70%, smoked brisket, or a cigar after dinner.

About the Distillery
Caroni, on Trinidad, stopped distilling in 2002, and Velier's Luca Gargano found its abandoned casks in 2004. Bottlers such as Hunter Laing have since released single casks from the remaining stock.
