Caroni 22 Year Golden Devil 1998 750mL is a long-aged Trinidad rum from the closed Caroni distillery, bottled at 22 years under the Golden Devil selection line and aimed at drinkers who seek the distillery's heavy industrial style.

Caroni was a sugar-cane estate and distillery on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. The estate's sugar mill had been established in the nineteenth century; the rum distillery itself was founded in 1918 by a group led by Italian immigrants including the Tegel Brothers. Caroni rums were heavy, high-ester, molasses-based rums produced in column stills from a combination of local and imported molasses, and the distillery's output went primarily into the local and Caribbean rum-blending market. Caroni distillery ceased production in 2002 when its parent group restructured, and the buildings were eventually demolished. Independent bottlers acquired stocks of Caroni rum after closure, with Italian bottler Velier, German bottler Habitation Velier and a small number of specialist labels releasing casks drawn from those final inventories. The Golden Devil selection is one of these independent bottling lines, with releases drawn from Caroni casks laid down at the original Trinidad site. This 22 Year Old 1998 bottling comes from rum distilled at Caroni in 1998, before closure, and aged in the tropics and/or Europe for 22 years prior to bottling.
