About This Wine
The Coastal Estates Cabernet is made to be open, supple and ready on release. Fruit is drawn from several coastal California regions and blended for balance, then given a light touch of oak for vanilla and toast. The 2015 is labelled California and sits at around 13% alcohol, a moderate level for Cabernet. It was made for drinking young, so at this age expect softer fruit and more savoury, earthy notes than it showed at release.

- Nose: Blackberry and black cherry, toasted oak, vanilla and a hint of coffee.
- Palate: Medium-bodied, round and smooth, with dark fruit, mocha and easy tannins.

About the Winery
Beaulieu Vineyard was founded in Rutherford in 1900 by Georges de Latour, a Frenchman who named it after his wife Fernande called the land a beau lieu, a beautiful place. The winery kept going through Prohibition by making sacramental wine for the Catholic Church. In 1938 de Latour brought the Russian-born, French-trained André Tchelistcheff to Napa, and his work on cold fermentation, malolactic fermentation and small French oak barrels shaped much of modern California winemaking.
The top wine, Georges de Latour Private Reserve, still comes from Rutherford. Coastal Estates is the broader range, blended from vineyards across California's coastal growing areas rather than Beaulieu's Napa estate sites.
