This is Bardstown Bourbon Company's own bottled-in-bond bourbon from its Origin Series, the first range the company distilled, aged and bottled entirely in-house. It is a six-year-old wheated bourbon at 100 proof.
About This Bourbon
The Origin Series launched with two bourbons and a rye, each aged six years. The bonded bourbon uses a wheated mash of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley, a recipe the company had previously used in its Fusion Series blends. As a bottled-in-bond whiskey it comes from one distilling season at one distillery, aged in a federally supervised warehouse and bottled at exactly 100 proof. Wheat in place of rye gives a softer, bready sweetness, with the higher strength adding depth.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Leather, dark honey and warm cornbread, with buttery caramel.
- Palate: Rich and round: caramelised sugar, macaroon and dark cherry, held in check by seasoned oak.
- Finish: Spiced and lasting, with cracked pepper and cinnamon.
Serving & Food
Try it neat first; the wheat makes it gentle for its strength. A large ice cube suits it on a hot evening. Serve alongside a slice of pecan pie, whose brown-sugar filling echoes the caramel.
How to Enjoy
A wheated bonded bourbon for slow evening sipping.

About the Distillery
Bardstown Bourbon Company first became known for distilling to order for other brands and for its Fusion Series, which blended its own young whiskey with older sourced bourbon. The Origin Series marked a change: whiskey made from grain to bottle at its own Bardstown site.
The core Origin range covers a high-rye bourbon, this wheated bonded bourbon, a rye finished in hybrid oak and cherrywood barrels, and a high-wheat bourbon, each distilled, aged and bottled on site.
