Auchentoshan 21 Year Old is the oldest whisky in the distillery's regular line-up, a triple-distilled Lowland malt aged more than two decades in American bourbon and Spanish sherry casks. Time adds honey, dried fruit and oak without losing the house finesse.
About This Whisky
The 21 Year Old combines whisky from ex-bourbon American oak with whisky from Spanish sherry casks, and is bottled at 43% (86 proof). The bourbon wood brings vanilla and green fruit such as gooseberry, while the sherry casks add a darker layer of fig, chocolate and nut. Two decades in oak also give a noticeably fuller texture than the younger expressions.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Gooseberry, honeycomb, vanilla and freshly cut barley, with a little oak.
- Palate: Honey, light chocolate and green fruit, then almond, fig and soft baking spice.
- Finish: Long, with honey, old oak and a gentle floral lift.

About the Distillery
Auchentoshan stands at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills in Dalmuir, on the edge of Clydebank near the Erskine Bridge, and is often called Glasgow's malt whisky. The name comes from the Gaelic Achadh an Oisein, meaning 'corner field'.
Process water comes from Loch Katrine, with Loch Cochno supplying cooling water. The distillery has a visitor centre, opened in 2005, and runs tours every day of the week.
