Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Demi-Sec is the sweetest expression in the range - the same multi-vintage blending approach as the Brut Gold, finished with a higher dosage so the wine reads rich rather than dry. Every bottle is assembled and finished by hand at Champagne Cattier in Chigny-les-Roses, with the pewter spade labels applied one at a time.
From the Producer
Armand de Brignac is made by Cattier, a grower family that has been in Chigny-les-Roses in the Montagne de Reims since the eighteenth century. The bottles are assembled and polished by hand rather than run down a line, and the spade labels are pewter rather than printed. LVMH took a half share in the brand in 2021.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Candied citrus, honey and brioche, with ripe orchard fruit behind it.
- Palate: Soft and full, the higher dosage giving weight and sweetness while the fine mousse keeps it lifted.
- Finish: Long and rounded, finishing sweet without turning heavy.
Best For
Dessert service, celebration pouring where a bone-dry Champagne is a hard sell, and gifting where the bottle is meant to be recognised across the room. Serve well chilled, around 8°C.
