Château Angélus 2020 is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from one of the appellation's best-known estates, in a vintage widely held back for the cellar rather than early drinking.
From the Producer
Chateau Angelus sits on the cotes and pied de cote of Saint-Emilion, on limestone and clay slopes below the village, with an unusually high share of Cabernet Franc for the appellation. The estate was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classe A in 2012 and then withdrew from the classification system altogether, choosing to be judged on the bottle rather than the ranking. 2020 was a dry, warm year that gave small berries and concentrated fruit.
Best For
Bordeaux collectors building vertical runs of Angélus, long-term cellaring, and gifting where the label is expected to be recognised.
