Screaming Eagle is a small cult Cabernet Sauvignon estate in Oakville, Napa Valley, founded by Jean Phillips in 1986 after she acquired a 23-hectare property on the eastern side of the valley and replanted the existing vines to Bordeaux varieties on the recommendation of André Tchelistcheff. The flagship wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, vinified by Heidi Barrett and aged in new French oak, with production routinely capped at around 500 cases for the standard 750ml format. The 1997 vintage received a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker and is among the most celebrated Cabernets of modern Napa, making magnum formats of this vintage particularly prized.
