Schrader Colesworthy 2019 in magnum is a high-end Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard. The large format adds aging potential and occasion value to an already prestige-labelled bottling from one of Napa's benchmark Cabernet producers
From the Producer
Schrader Cellars was founded in 1998 by Fred Schrader, a former art and antiques dealer whose interest in fine wine began after a 1988 visit to the Napa Valley Wine Auction. In 2000, a barrel sample led him to the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, and he approached grower Andy Beckstoffer to secure a small selection of rows there, later expanding the partnership to more of the vineyard's finest blocks. That same year Fred hired Thomas Rivers Brown as winemaker, even though Brown had previously worked only with Zinfandel; the two consider the 2001 vintage the first sign of the style they were chasing — concentrated, fruit-forward Cabernet Sauvignon with enduring structure. Schrader Cellars has since earned forty-four 100-point scores from leading wine critics and was acquired by Constellation Brands in 2017.
