Müller-Catoir Mussbacher Eselshaut Rieslaner TBA #4 1986 is a highly specialised sweet wine for buyers who appreciate rare German dessert wines with long ageing potential. It is best suited to collectors and connoisseurs rather than general gifting.
From the Producer
Weingüt Müller-Catoir is a historic Pfalz estate based in Haardt, near Neustadt an der Weinstraße, with documented winemaking on the site since the 18th century. The estate is known for dry and off-dry Riesling and for Rieslaner, a Riesling-Silvaner cross that ripens late and is used almost exclusively for late-harvest and Beerenauslese/Trockenbeerenauslese styles. The Mussbacher Eselshaut vineyard is one of Müller-Catoir's signature single-vineyard sites, and Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) designates wine made from individually selected, botrytis-shrivelled berries, picked at the highest German ripeness classification.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Apricot preserve, honey, marmalade, saffron and botrytis spice.
- Palate: Lusciously sweet yet lifted, with concentrated stone fruit, citrus peel and layered noble-rot complexity.
- Finish: Very long and unctuous, with persistent honey, spice and acidity keeping the wine alive.
Best For
Ideal for dessert-wine collectors, blue-cheese pairings and important tasting flights focused on mature German wines.
