About This Bourbon
The base is a ten-year Kentucky straight bourbon from a mash bill of 78% corn, 13% rye and 9% malted barley. After its time in new charred oak it was moved into Spanish PX sherry casks for a finishing period, which layers dried fruit and a darker sweetness over the vanilla of the bourbon. It was bottled at 107 proof (53.5% ABV). Vinous gave it 93 points, calling it a bold whiskey and picking out maraschino cherry, dried herbs, mint and toasty oak.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Vanilla, raisin and fig jam, with honey and a spiced-rum warmth.
- Palate: Full and velvety; dried fruit and cherry, then leather, nutmeg and a roasted espresso note.
- Finish: Long and sweet-edged, with sherried fruit held in check by oak grip.

At 107 proof it rewards patience: a copita or small wine glass at cool room temperature, and a teaspoon of water if the alcohol feels loud. Andrés would approve of pairing it with jamón ibérico, Manchego with membrillo, or a slice of dark chocolate and almond cake.

About the Distillery
Giving back has been part of Gentleman's Cut from the start. Curry and his wife Ayesha use the brand to support their Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, which funds meals, schooling and sport for children in the Oakland area, and the Player releases have become the vehicle for bigger collaborations.
For this one Curry turned to Andrés, the Spanish-born chef who founded World Central Kitchen in 2010 to feed communities hit by disaster and conflict. The pairing explains the cask: Pedro Ximénez is the dark, raisin-sweet sherry of Andalucía, a nod to the chef's home country.
