About This Bourbon
The 2025 edition was drawn from barrels that had matured for two decades in fire-charred new American white oak. Bourbon has to go into a new barrel, which gives colour and oak quickly, so keeping a whiskey in balance for twenty years depends on close barrel management and controlled warehouse conditions, the areas Andrea Wilson oversees. There is no set release calendar; the 20 Year only appears when barrels are judged ready.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Seasoned oak, dark caramel, dried cherry and vanilla bean, with a hint of cigar box.
- Palate: Rich and concentrated, with toffee, cocoa, prune and baking spice over polished oak.
- Finish: Very long, with dark sugar, oak tannin and warm spice.
Serving & Food

About the Distillery
Michter's today works from three places in Kentucky. The production distillery is in the Shively district of Louisville, covering some 88,000 square feet. Downtown, the restored Fort Nelson Building on Louisville's Museum Row houses a second, smaller distillery and welcomes visitors for tours.
The company also owns about 205 acres of farmland in Springfield, Kentucky. Dan McKee leads distilling and Andrea Wilson oversees maturation, and whiskey is released only once they and the tasting panel sign it off.
