Michter's name dates to a Pennsylvania distillery founded in 1753, revived in Kentucky during the 1990s by Joseph J. Magliocco and Richard Newman. The distillery today operates from its Shively production facility and the Fort Nelson building in Louisville. The 20 Year expression is part of Michter's Limited Production range: whiskeys are not released on a fixed schedule but only when barrels reach the elegance and depth the distillery's tasting panel requires, which is why an age-stated 20 Year appears infrequently.
