Caroni was a state-owned Trinidad distillery that shut in 2002. Nothing more will ever be made, so every release comes out of a finite and shrinking pool of surviving casks - the reason the heavy, tarry Caroni style has become one of rum's most collected. East Asia Whisky is an Asia-based independent bottler, and Tortuga No.1 was its first rum bottling.
