Caroni 20 Year Basdeo "Dicky" Ramsarran 2000 is a single-cask full-proof Trinidad rum honouring Basdeo "Dicky" Ramsarran, a long-serving employee of the now-closed Caroni estate. Distilled in 2000 and bottled around two decades later at natural cask strength, it sits in the Employees 4th Release sequence from Velier — a series dedicated to the men and women who worked at Caroni during its final decades of operation.

From the Producer

Caroni was a state-owned sugar factory and rum distillery in central Trinidad, distilling heavy molasses-based rums in column stills alongside its sugar production. When the complex was closed in 2002 by the Trinidad and Tobago government, the remaining casks were left in ageing warehouses. Italian independent bottler Velier, working with local partner LCU (La Maison du Whisky's Caribbean source), acquired the surviving Caroni stock from 2004 onward and released it slowly through single-cask and small-batch bottlings, turning Caroni into a cult reference for collectors of heavy, high-ester, industrial-style rum. The Employees series specifically salutes the workforce, with each bottle named after a real Caroni employee and presented in the no-frills Velier house style: single cask, no chill-filtration, no added colouring, cask-strength bottling. Ramsarran's 2000-vintage cask represents the last generation of Caroni distillate, slightly younger than the older 1996–1998 stocks but still showing the trademark tar, dark caramel, rubber and burnt-sugar intensity.
