White Oak is the brand name Eigashima Shuzo uses for its Akashi single malt range, drawn from the same Hyogo distillery that produces the Akashi single-cask Ghost Series releases. Eigashima's whisky line is small in global volume but distinctive in style: it leans on first-fill bourbon casks more than many Japanese distilleries, which gives the core White Oak bottlings a sweet, vanilla-led profile rather than the Mizunara-oak character found at Yamazaki. The distillery's coastal Akashi location, with humid sea air, also shapes how the whisky ages in those bourbon casks.
