About This Whisky
White Oak distillery matured this 5-year-old Akashi single malt in a first-fill bourbon barrel and bottled it at 50% ABV.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Vanilla, baked apple and light malt, with a little citrus.
- Palate: Soft and sweet, with orchard fruit, honey and gentle American oak.
- Finish: Clean and medium length, with vanilla and light spice.
Serving & Food
Pour neat into a Glencairn, or make a highball with chilled soda and plenty of ice, the way much Japanese whisky is drunk at home. Pair with tamagoyaki, grilled scallops or a lemon tart.
Good to Know
Is 50% too strong? It drinks more gently than its strength promises, and the texture stays full.

Eigashima Shuzo has made sake in Akashi since 1679 and completed its first distillery plant there in 1919. It built the present whisky distillery, White Oak, beside its headquarters in 1984.
