The Yamazaki cask-series bottlings each isolate one wood type instead of blending across the warehouse, and the bourbon-barrel edition is the lightest of them: American oak that has already held bourbon gives vanilla and coconut rather than the dried fruit of sherry or the incense of mizunara. This is the 2013 release, bottled at 48%.

• Nose: Vanilla, coconut, peach, citrus, honey, oak and light spice.
• Palate: Clean and fruity, with bourbon-cask sweetness, orchard fruit, malt, vanilla cream and balanced wood spice.
