William Larue Weller is Buffalo Trace Distillery's barrel-proof wheated bourbon, released each fall as one of five whiskeys in the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. Named after William Larue Weller, the 19th-century Kentucky distiller who pioneered wheat over rye as bourbon's secondary grain, the whiskey is bottled uncut and unfiltered at whatever proof and age each year's selected barrels reach — figures the distillery publishes annually and that vary release to release. Proof and release year vary by bottling, so check the label for the exact vintage and barrel proof.

Tasting Profile

• Nose: Caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, dark fruit, leather and baking spice.
