About This Bourbon
This one-litre bottle holds W.L. Weller Special Reserve, Buffalo Trace's soft, sweet wheated Kentucky straight bourbon.
Special Reserve has no age statement. It is bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof), with a burnt-orange colour and a gentle style.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Sweet, with caramel to the fore.
- Palate: Honey, butterscotch and a soft woodiness; smooth, delicate and calm.
- Finish: Smooth and sweet, with a light honeysuckle note.
Serving & Food
Try a Paper Plane, Buffalo Trace's signature cocktail for Special Reserve: bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino and lemon juice in equal parts, shaken. Serve with char siu bao or cornbread with honey butter.

William Larue Weller started his whiskey business in Louisville in 1849, and the Sazerac Company bought the brand in 1999. Buffalo Trace makes it in Frankfort, Kentucky, with wheat in place of rye for a rounder, softer bourbon.
