W.L. Weller is the wheated bourbon line produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The line was created by William Larue Weller, who replaced rye with wheat in the mashbill to create a softer, sweeter bourbon profile. Buffalo Trace produces several Weller expressions on the same wheated mashbill, with Special Reserve as the entry point and Antique, Full Proof and 12 Year at progressively older and more limited tiers. The 1.75L format is a high-volume bottling aimed at home bars, restaurants and event service.
