W.L. Weller carries the name of William Larue Weller, the Louisville whiskey merchant credited with putting wheat in the mash in place of rye. The brand ran through Stitzel-Weller and now sits with Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, made on the same wheated recipe as the Van Winkle bottlings.
