Valdicava is a Montalcino estate based in the Val di Cava area, farming vineyards on the northern slopes of the appellation. Madonna del Piano is the estate's single-vineyard Brunello Riserva, made from Sangiovese and released only in strong vintages, aged in traditional large Slavonian oak casks in keeping with Brunello di Montalcino DOCG rules for extended cask ageing before release.
