Talisker 18 Year is a classic mature Island single malt that softens Talisker's maritime smoke into a more polished and layered style. It is well suited to buyers who want the house character with extra age and refinement rather than maximum intensity.
From the Producer
Talisker distillery was founded in 1830 at Carbost on the Isle of Skye and is now owned by Diageo as part of its Classic Malts range. The distillery still runs five stills with worm-tub condensers rather than modern condensers, a design the distillery says contributes to a fuller flavour, and maturation is predominantly in American oak. The Talisker 18 Year draws on maturation in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks, which softens the house's signature coastal peat smoke into a more rounded, sherried profile than the younger expressions.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Dried orange, plum, toffee, sea air and a gentle thread of smoke.
- Palate: Rich and rounded, with sweet malt, pepper, dark fruit and coastal spice.
- Finish: Long and warming, with soft smoke, oak and maritime salinity.
Best For
Best for Talisker fans, premium gifting and drinkers stepping up from entry-level island malts to something more mature and composed.
