About This Wine
Aux Malconsorts sits at the southern end of Vosne-Romanée's premier crus, directly next to the grand cru La Tâche. The Cathiard holding has long been the domaine's signature wine. At more than thirty years old, this is a bottle for drinking rather than keeping: expect faded red fruit, forest floor and spice rather than primary power.

- Nose: Dried cherry, rose petal and orange peel, with sous-bois, leather and Vosne spice.
- Palate: Silky and mellow, with savoury red fruit and soft, resolved tannins.
- Finish: Gentle and earthy, with a lingering note of tea and spice.
Serving & Food
Stand the bottle upright for a day, then decant carefully off the sediment just before serving at 15 to 16°C. Old Pinot fades quickly once opened, so plan to finish it within a couple of hours. Pair with roast pigeon, mushroom risotto, or a simple dish of veal with morels.

About the Domaine
The Cathiard story in Vosne-Romanée began in the 1930s, when Sylvain's grandfather came to the village from Savoie and found work in the vines of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Lamarche before buying plots of his own. Sylvain's father André ran the family holdings from 1969 to 1985, after which Sylvain took over.
Sylvain's son Sébastien joined in 2006 and has run the domaine since 2011. The holdings are small, around five hectares, but include a tiny parcel of Romanée-Saint-Vivant alongside the premier crus Aux Malconsorts, Les Suchots, Aux Reignots and En Orveaux.
