Domaine Sylvain Cathiard is a small family estate in Vosne-Romanée founded in the 1930s by Sylvain's grandfather, who arrived in the village as a vineyard worker for Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Lamarche before buying his first parcels. The domaine passed to Sylvain's father André and then to Sylvain himself from 1985, and today farms roughly a dozen small plots including a piece of Romanée-Saint-Vivant grand cru. Les Malconsorts, a premier cru vineyard bordering the grand cru La Tâche, is one of the domaine's most celebrated wines, prized for its purity of fruit and precision.
