SQN Distenta IV Grenache 2022 is a cult California red from Sine Qua Non, built for collectors who follow the estate's tiny-production Rhône-inspired wines. The combination of distinctive branding, allocation scarcity and 16.1% ABV makes it a bottle aimed at buyers who value scale, richness and reputation.
From the Producer
Sine Qua Non (SQN) is a Ventura County, California winery founded in 1993 by Austrian-born winemaker Manfred Krankl and his wife Elaine, with their first releases following in 1994. Rather than keeping a fixed lineup, SQN gives nearly every vintage a new name and label — Distenta is one such recurring name — and sells almost entirely direct to a mailing-list clientele with a historically years-long wait. Krankl, a former Los Angeles restaurateur and co-founder of La Brea Bakery, designs the labels himself and blends predominantly Rhône varieties such as Grenache and Syrah into small-batch, cellar-worthy wines that regularly draw high scores from critics.

- Nose: Blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, sweet spice and dried herbs.
