Springbank Private Bottling Cask #1157 1974 700mL is a mature Campbeltown single malt from a private cask, with specialist references listing it as a 28-year-old 1974 vintage bottled in 2003. It is a serious collector bottle for Springbank followers.
From the Producer
Springbank has sold private casks to individuals and companies for decades, and the resulting bottlings are filled at the distillery in Campbeltown under the J. & A. Mitchell & Co. licence that the family has held since 1828. A 1974 distillate predates the distillery's 1979 shutdown, so it comes from the old pre-closure production, made with floor-malted barley and the same two-and-a-half-times distillation regime used today, then matured in the distillery's own warehouses on the Campbeltown shore. Specialist references list this cask, number 1157, as a 1974 vintage bottled in 2003 at 28 years old, with a reported outturn of 630 bottles.
