A hand-filled Springbank bottled at the distillery in Campbeltown in 2021 and sold only to visitors there. There is no age statement or named cask; the whisky is filled by hand straight from a cask kept for the purpose and bottled at full strength.
About This Whisky
Hand-fill whisky at Springbank comes from casks the distillery keeps topped up with fresh whisky over time, so the contents are a moving blend of ages rather than one vintage. That is why the label gives no age or cask type. Bottles filled in 2021 were typically between about 56% and 58% ABV, and tasters found a bourbon-cask profile close to a stronger Springbank 10. As with all Springbank, there is no chill filtration and no added colour.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Vanilla and oak, hazelnut, fresh bread and the damp, earthy warehouse note Springbank drinkers know well.
- Palate: Oily and mouth-coating, with vanilla, popcorn, wholemeal bread, lemon and a salty-sweet edge.
- Finish: Long, salty and gently warming, with a touch of peat.
Serving & Food
Treat it like any cask-strength malt: taste it neat, then add a splash of water. It also stands up well to food, so try it with a bacon roll, fish and chips, or a wedge of Cheddar.
How to Enjoy
A souvenir of a Campbeltown visit, and for fans of unpolished, full-strength Springbank.

About the Distillery
Springbank is best known for doing everything under one roof, and a visit shows it: the malting floors, the stills and the bottling hall sit close together in the middle of the town. The distillery runs guided tours year round, and its sister business Cadenhead's has a shop and tasting room on Bolgam Street nearby. Hand-filled bottles are one of the draws for visitors. You fill your own bottle, label it and take it home, and the strength and style of the whisky change as casks are swapped over.
