Adelphi takes its name from an old Glasgow distillery and was revived as an independent bottler selecting single casks, bottled without chill filtration. Spirit from the mid-1960s was distilled well before the distillery's modern cask-selling era.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Old sherry and dried fruit, with polished oak, beeswax, a little leather and a faint salty note.
- Palate: Rich and mouth-coating, with raisin, orange peel, dark toffee, clove and a lingering mineral edge.
- Finish: Very long and gently drying, with dried fruit, old wood and a whisper of smoke.

About the Distillery
In the 1960s and 1970s, a good share of Springbank's spirit left Campbeltown in casks, bought by blenders and by independent bottlers who matured and bottled it under their own labels. That changed after the distillery's closure at the end of the 1970s. When production restarted, the company chose to stop selling to the blending trade for the most part and to put its effort into its own single malt. Independently bottled Springbank from the 1960s therefore comes from a period when casks moved far more freely than they do today.
