Springbank 8 Year Springbank Society 2012 is a smaller-scale Campbeltown release aimed at loyal Springbank followers and club-style collectors. The combination of an age statement, society connection and limited circulation gives it specialist appeal beyond standard releases.
From the Producer
The Springbank Society is the distillery's own membership scheme, and the bottlings issued under its name are made available to members rather than sold through the general trade, which keeps circulation small. The whisky is made by J. & A. Mitchell & Co. in Campbeltown, licence holders since 1828, using barley floor-malted at the distillery and spirit distilled two and a half times, then matured and bottled on the same site without chill-filtration or added colour. Society releases are typically single-cask or small-batch, with the cask type and dates stated on the label rather than blended to a house recipe. This one carries an 8-year age statement and the 2012 reference.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Malt, orchard fruit, light coastal notes, vanilla and soft earth.
- Palate: Textured and oily, with gentle smoke, barley sweetness, spice and classic Springbank funk.
