Springbank was licensed in 1828 on the Kintyre peninsula in Campbeltown and remains family-owned by J&A Mitchell & Company, one of the last survivors from a town that once held more than thirty working distilleries. It is the only Scottish distillery that carries out every stage of production on site, from floor-malting its own barley to distilling and bottling, with the core Springbank spirit distilled two and a half times through three copper pot stills. This single-cask 1992 bottling reflects that traditional, hands-on Campbeltown process in a mature, cask-specific expression.
