About This Whisky
The first 2022 release of the 25 Year Old was vatted from 60% sherry casks and 40% bourbon casks and bottled in March 2022 at 46% ABV. It ran to 1,300 bottles, bottled without chill filtration or added colour. A second, smaller 2022 batch followed later in the year with a different cask recipe.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Sweet and delicate, with raspberry coulis, then an old-warehouse mustiness of damp stone and bung cloth.
- Palate: Smooth and syrupy at first, opening into sultanas, banana and demerara sugar.
- Finish: A salty, coastal finish with barley water and fresh grass.
Serving & Food
Serve at room temperature in a nosing glass, in small measures, and keep water aside rather than in the glass. Pair with a plate of Iberico ham, roasted chestnuts, or simply a few squares of milk chocolate.

About the Distillery
Twenty-five-year-old Springbank is thin on the ground for a simple reason: the distillery went quiet in 1979, when the UK economy was weak, and did not distil again for most of the 1980s. Earlier in the century it had also shut for a period after 1926, when American Prohibition hit Campbeltown's trade. Those gaps in production shape which ages the distillery can release today. When stills restarted, the company also stopped selling spirit to blenders for the most part and put its effort into single malt, which is why older Springbank is released in modest batches.
